What is Home Education? How does it work?
|
Home education is when parents decide to educate their
children from home rather than sending them to school. Much of the
education can take place through conversation just as it did in the
first few years of life. This education is certainly not limited to
the home and is sometimes called home based education as the home
is merely a spring board into the community and many different learning
environments.
In this environment children can have their questions answered as
they arise and the adult can immediately notice what things interest
the child. They mostly receive much more attention from a larger number
of adults which usually increases their communication skills above
those of their peers in school.
Parents are free to choose the type of education their children should
receive and approaches to education are very various. You will find
a summary of approaches in the leaflets below: |

Research
There have been many books and papers published on the subject
of home education. Although some of the articles listed on EO's
research page are American, most relate to England and Wales. |
