| MY ALTERNATIVE TO SCHOOL
is a Swedish association offering information and support to anybody
interested in homeschooling in Sweden. We are working to make this
form of education more recognised in society and can offer a network
of support to families wanting to educate their children at home or
already doing so. Homeschooling is as
yet not widely known in Sweden; indeed most people do not know that
it is a legal alternative to other forms of education. This lack of
knowledge unfortunately also applies to the authorities. Many families
still find themselves facing a total lack of understanding and many
have to fight in court for their rights. MATS was started in 1992 with the aim of sharing information and experiences, thus making it easier for families to choose this form of education. MATS would like to see homeschooling not only accepted by the authorities, but supported in the imaginative and forward thinking fashion it deserves. |
