Bullying - Story 10

(This is a story related over the telephone to one of the EO Helpline Volunteers - permission to use it was gained from the parent.)

Boy, lets say David, never liked school from the word go; was bullied all through primary school, mainly pushing and shoving around and name calling.

Many times he didn`t want to go but his mother thought she would get into trouble and continued to send him.

By the time he was 11 years old and in secondary school, the bullying got increasingly worse with regular beatings being very common. He was kicked in the groin and had his head smashed against a wall.

Of course he had no confidence in himself.

Many times David`s mother was called into school in the middle of the day after one incident or another. His mother had no idea of the law and the school did not sort any of the bullying problems out.

When he was 12 years old his mother received yet another phone call because of another 'incident' and this time discovered that he had tried to hang himself with his tie in the gym changing rooms.

After this he was taken out of school and he and his family will probably never fully recover.
